I'm afraid I've neglected my oboe a bit this week. I've played some scales, made some reeds, practiced a tad. However, my efforts have been minimal at best because I'm in my usual post-festival slump. Festivals are amazing experiences, but they're also incredibly intense. While at Eastern Music Festival I'm performing a huge amount of music, teaching as much as I possible can cram into the schedule and giving lectures to students and patrons alike. It's no wonder my artistic batteries are completely drained by it all. I feel fortunate that I have this time to be low key and to recharge. I think it's healthy. So today I'll warm up a it, play some scales, work on my reeds and then wander down to the park...perhaps I'll even take a nap. Lovely.
