Karen Blundell is English horn of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic and a faculty member of the prestigious Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, NC. She is a member of the Double Entendre Music Ensemble and performs regularly with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, the Hudson Valley Philharmonic and the Association of Dominican Concert Artists Orchestra.
Prior to her time in New York City, Karen was Second Oboe/English horn with the Sarasota Orchestra. She is a former New World Symphony Fellow and spent three summers as the Principal Oboe with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería in Mexico City. Additional international appearances include Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Karen has performed with the Cincinnati Symphony Pops, Allentown Symphony, Harrisburg Symphony, Hartford Symphony, Brooklyn Philharmonic, American Symphony Orchestra, Florida Orchestra, Naples Philharmonic, Florida Philharmonic, Houston Ballet Orchestra and the Houston Symphony.
Karen holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory and the Hartt School of Music. She has studied with James Caldwell, Alex Klein, Humbert Lucarelli and Robert Atherholt.
